Have you heard? Outdoor gear staple Patagonia has been running with green before the rest of the world joined in, having launched their Common Threads Garment Recycling Program in 2005. Through the program, Patagonia fans are able to mail in their used gear (or drop off at a Patagonia retail store), knowing that their duds will be recycled and used in the production of brilliant, new eco wear.If that's not enough, you can rest assured that the company is supporting eco-friendly practices via One Percent for the Planet. Since 1985, one percent of sales (that's over $31 million) has gone back to preservation and restoration of the natural environment.
If you're looking to buy recycled recyclables, I'm a fan of the R1 Flash Pullover, available in mens ($115) and womens ($115) fits. It's the perfect pullover for chilly hikes or to use as a base layer on that next ski trip. All that, and it's darn cute too.
