A hybrid vehicle is nothing new, unless, of course, it's the kind that moves on the water versus the road. And when I'm talking water, I mean the Galapagos. Intrigued?
The small ship travel company Ecoventura recently announced eco upgrades to its motor yacht M/Y ERIC, making it the first hybrid energy tour boat in the Galapagos thanks to 40 solar panels and two wind turbines that now decorate its upper deck. These Earth-friendly additions will initially support 17 percent of the energy that was formerly produced by two carbon fuel-based generators, according to Ecoventura.
The company is hoping to implement similar technologies on the entire fleet by 2011 through a funded partnership with Toyota, a supporter of the WWF and the Galapagos' fragile ecosystem.
If you're up for a seven-night cruise on the M/Y ERIC, check out the site. The yacht sleeps 20, so it's sure to be an intimate getaway in the midst of all that water.

How can a yatch be green? Everything that this products stands for seems to be against any common sense green value.
Agreed. I'm trying, Guillaume, to point out the efforts toward ecotourism without too much of the judging. I leave that up to you :)
